For the past few years, I have been looking into chin liposuction. I have always been a little self conscious of the fat around my chin. I searched through a variety of b/a pics, some changes looked dramatic, others were less so. My equation is: When it comes to the chin, why is it that some procedures couldn't suck ALL the fat out around the chin and looked as if there was still fat left? I know lipo is more complex than it seems, so I'm not trying to be unrealistic, I am just curious.
Answer: Why can't everything be sucked out in Chin Liposuction? Hi. Without your particular photos it's impossible to give you an accurate assessment of your specific requirements. First, all fat cannot be removed after lipo because the skin would adhere to the underlying muscle giving the patient a dimpled and wrinkled look. Second, patients' anatomy will differ and therefore the results will differ. There are patients who have a more acute cervico-mental angle(the angle created from the chin to the neck and closer to that ideal 90 degrees). Then there are those that have never had a well defined angle, even in their youth. If the latter build up fat, the so called "double chin", then it becomes more obvious.I you provide photos, I will be happy to update my answer.

Answer: Chin Liposuction Hi Dragon,This fat can be resistant to diet and exercise. So it is stubborn fat. If you have localized fullness, and are younger you should have good overlying skin tone. I believe you would benefit from chin liposuction if these factors are true, but did not see your photos. Be sure to see only a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon. I wish you all the best, "Dr. Joe"

Answer: #chinliposuction it all depends on the anatomy of the neck at its present stage. if submental fat is your only problem then that's simple. if you have fat behind your neck muscles you will need a surgery (neck lift). if its skin laxity along the jawline you will need a lower face and neck facelift. All of these are different procedures with different outcomes. best is to get evaluated by your doctor

Answer: Fat removal in the neck with chin liposuction The anatomy of the neck is very complicated than what most people realize. There are 2 locations of fat in the neck. The first location is sub-mental fat which is directly below the skin on top of the platysma muscle. This fat can be removed with liposuction by either open or closed techniques. The second location is the sub-platysmal fat which is located below the platysma muscle. This fat is encased in dense fibrous tissue and must be surgically removed. Once the sub-platysmal fat has been removed, a platysma-plasty is performed to give a better shape and contour to the platysma neck muscles. This is considered a neck lift, but no skin has been tightened. When there is loose and extra skin present, a face and neck lift is required. Answer: What determines a good outcome There are two components to a great outcome in cosmetic surgery. The first is the patient being a good candidate. What this really means is that the diagnosis is made correctly and is correctly treated. For example, if someone really needs a chin implant but ends up getting liposuction, the results will be limited.Second is, of course, that the procedure is done correctly. My personal belief is when results are suboptimal, it has more to do with the first components rather than the second.Given enough assertiveness, every version of liposuction can remove virtually all fat in the chin area. This includes going beyond what is appropriate, leading to disfigurement. There is a saying in cosmetic surgery, "The enemy of good is perfect."Caution is a virtue.Best of luck, Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
