How much loose skin is required for a cervicoplasty? Does it always require scar down the back of the hairline?

I need to fix my neck after a calcified seroma left a patch of loose/puffy skin. Most Dr's have said I don't need a facelift. One suggested a neck lift with cervicoplasty. How much loose skin does someone normally have to have to warrant a cervicoplasty?

The scar from a cervicoplasty varies with the surgeon's training and choice of technique.  My general preference is to ease the edges of the neck skin totally into the junction of the ear with the head.  This can prevent the common hairline extension that is visible when the hair is put up.  Also, we as surgeons need to mindfully protect the posterior hairline continuity and avoid potential loss of hair follicles.

However, without photos or a physical exam, it's hard to give you a definite answer. With a neck lift (cervicoplasty) the excess skin has to be removed so there will be a scar. I done well then it should fade into the hairline behind the ears and look inconspicuous.
