I'm used to wearing makeup hassle free until one day I failed at applying falsies. I put the glue on my eyelash lash line &kept Messing up so I reapplied makeup and went2 sleep. I know that was very bad mistake won't do it ever again. I just want2wear eyeliner/mascara again ): I want2 get this chalazion off so I return to makeup but will practice preventive care as well as good eye hygiene. How soon after the process can I resume makeup? &What will the injection be like during&after for my eye?
Answer: Kenalog injection is very good for treating the chalazia. Generally it will be associated with some discomfort and swelling. You can bruise. Depending on the nature of these post procedure issues it could take several days but up to a week for this to settle down. The injection can take severally weeks to heal. I generally reassess these after 4 to 6 weeks. If the injection helped the chalazia but it is not full resolve, I will repeat the injection. Surgery is seldom necessary.

Answer: Chalazion How long have you had the chalazion? Usually best to treat conservatively. Warm compresses. Can try steroid injection first. If this doesn't work, and chalazion persists beyond 2-3 months can consider surgical excision from inside the lid. Usually get pretty swollen and bruised with this. But can wear makeup after a week.

Answer: Steroid injection for chalazion Hi. Injecting steroid can be an effective treatment for chalazia. You may notice initial bruising and swelling which typically goes away quickly. It may take a few weeks for the chalazion to improve after a steroid injection. I usually have patients also use warm compresses, and antibiotic/ anti inflammatory eye ointment. Oral doxycycline (an antibiotic) can also help. If you have a steroid injection and the chalazion does not improve after a few weeks, then a repeat injection or surgical excision are options. I generally try to excise these from the inside of the eyelid so there is no incisional scar. Good luck! Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.
