Thank you for your question. Eyelid surgery tends to provide minimal discomfort and recovery is typically quick. After a week or two, the area becomes smoother and the surrounding areas will look more alert and youthful. It's okay to feel frustrated after a difficult recovery. Please consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon so you can discuss the best way to improve your recovery process. Best wishes,
It is tough to tell based on the photos but you may have festoons there. A detailed examination is necessary. Depending on the cause of the festoon, massage and/or injections may be necessary. It is important to discuss this with your surgeon and make a plan together!
Without seeing what your eyelids looked like before surgery it is difficult to tell exactly what is going on. However, I do see multiple contour irregularities and what may be festoons of the lower eyelids. Most of the swelling should be gone within 4 weeks after surgery (although not in everyone) so 10 weeks out it is more likely that this is not just swelling but something different. I would recommend seeing your surgeon again to discuss your concerns because it helps to know exactly how the surgery was done in order to know exactly what is going on. For example, was there fat transposition performed (ie moving fat down into cheek)? Sometime this can lead to lumps or bumps when not performed correctly. Was there fat grafting done? I would start with your surgeon and if he/she isn't able to provide you with answers a second opinion with an oculoplastic surgeon specialist would be recommended. Good luck!
From the photo it appears you have festoons. They are difficult to treat but sometimes can be improved with laser treatments. Sometimes filler can help, but if done incorrectly can actually make them appear more pronounced. Surgery would be the last resort. I encourage you to meet with an e...
It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question and for posting it on RealSelf! While persistent pain is commonly not normal after chalazion removal (usually referred to as incision and curettage), spot tenderness is not unheard of. I usually discuss with my patients that bruising can last anywhere from 1-2...
Dear 30yearold,It appears that you have evidence of sun damaged skin in the lower eyelid region. This is likely related to past sun exposure in your life. First wearing good quality sun glasses anytime you are outside can help to prevent further damage. To reverse the damage there: 1) you can u...
You have ptosis of your left upper eyelid. That is why the crease seems so high on that side and the lower extension of the eyelid covers more or your pupil. It is not hollowness. Your right brow is lower than your left brow. You would need ptosis repair on the left and you could use Boto...
Dear Lydia,It appears that you have festoons or malar mounds in your lower eyelid/cheek region. There are swollen mounds that can wax and wane and often have a genesis in past sun exposure. They can make a person appear tired even when they feel fine inside. They are difficult to treat but I've...
