Got Hit on my Nose a Year After Rhinoplasty Have I Caused Serious Damage?

A year after your surgery, your nose should be as "strong" as before your surgery. A hit that would broken your nose now would of also broken your nose before surgery. Have it checked out by a physician to make sure it was not broken

A year after rhinoplasty your nose is probably a strong as it was before. Nevertheless a strong blow to the nose can cause a fracture in this should be checked out by your plastic surgeon.

 If the nose is twisted or fractured after the trauma it  is to have an in person consultation by your original surgeon or another experienced rhinoplasty surgeon. Important to check the internal portion of the nose to make sure there is no septal hematoma as well as evaluate the external portion of nose  to see if it was fractured and get an x-ray of the nasal bones.

It is possible that you broke your nose. Your best option is to return to your rhinoplasty surgeon ASAP and have them evaluate your nose. If it is broken or deviated it should be possible to repair this without major surgery within the first two weeks following your injury. If it does not appear to be broken you should do well without any intervention. Have your nose checked out soon to be sure.

If you sustained trauma to your nose and it bleed profusely then you may have sustained significant trauma and should be evaluated in person.

Thank you for your question.  While your nose is very sturdy from rhinoplasty, even a few months from surgery, you can fracture a nose at any time, with or without a rhinoplasty.  If there is deviation of the nasal bones or cartilage, follow up with your plastic surgeon and he/she can evaluate and repair the nose if there is any actual damage.  Bleeding alone without any displacement of the bone or cartilage does not need to be treated. Keep the nose moist while healing with a saline spray, avoid blowing it, and keep it elevated at all times.

Thank you for the question.  It may be that you sustained a fracture of the nasal bones by being hit on the side of the nose.  The nose bleed that you experienced is from injuring the inside lining of the nose and a side of nose blow would cause this primarily of the nasal bones were also fractured.  Nasal bone fractures can be displaced or non-displaced.  Non-displaced nasal bone fractures do not need repair as the bones have largely stayed in place.  Displaced nasal bone fractures can be re-positioned by pushing on them.  The earlier the better for this to be accomplished.  I would see your plastic surgeon for an assessment.  Some displaced nasal fractures can be repaired under local anesthesia in your doctors office.
