Answer: 30 days post op —& Lipo 360 + BBL After a BBL, 30-50% of the fat volume injected is lost over the first 3-6 months after the surgery. There is no literature to show/support that not sitting on the fat (buttocks) actually allows for more survival. I ask my patients to refrain from sitting or laying on their buttocks for 10 days to help maintain the shape. Not sitting does not make a difference on the overall long term fat volume/size. The fat "dies" because it did not receive the proper nutrients such as oxygen from blood flow. It is decided after 6+ hours which fat cells will not make it. The body takes months to fully absorb the fat that "died" and that is why you continue to see shrinkage over 3-6 months. I too have patients that choose to not sit or lay on their buttocks for months, but this is not necessary. I explain that it doesn't help but it won't hurt to stay off of the buttocks pas the 10 day mark. Remember always follow your PS post op recommendations.
