Could someone who plays a brass instrument get a lip aug? I had a filler long ago but did not play during that time. (Photo)

I would not recommend any lip implantation if you depend on your lips to play music.Perhaps try filler when you have some time off from playing so that you can see if it interferes without having to depend on them.Dr. Daniel BarrettBeverly Hills, CA

I have been able to successfully use hyaluronic acid fillers to enhance lips in patients who play both brass as well as woodwind instruments.  I would ask that the patient is more conservative and also utilize a hyaluronic acid filler that can be reversed as needed.  I have not heard of any difficulty with this approach.  Ultimately you have to make the best decision for you.I would not recommend fat injections to the lip unless you are doing a full face transfer.  In that event, I would still require a one year trial with HA fillers to be sure you are comfortable with the results.As with all patients, you may be swollen for 2 weeks or so after your procedure so I would consider this as well.Dr. Hobgood
