As bruising moves down your legs after liposuction, does it cause pain?

I am 9 days post tummy tuck and liposuction of flanks, thighs and back. I have pretty bad bruising. My doctor told me to be prepared for the bruising to move downward. I can feel aching and some dull pain in my lower legs. I'm scared of blood clots. I've been wearing compression socks since day 1. Is this normal?

Significant pain after liposuction is not common and should be evaluated.  Bruising is common and can move toward gravity.  RF treatments and massage with compression help limit this.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You should not be experiencing pain due to bruising following liposuction- numbness and swelling are common and tend to migrate downward. You should see your doctor in case you are experiencing vascular obstruction. Compression socks and massage can help alleviate any swelling

Blood (bruising) is an irritant and areas where it migrates by gravity would be expected to be tender. Calf tenderness is concerning especially if your calves are swollen without signs of bruises and if so should be checked by your surgeon. If you're uncertain consider contacting the office by phone to be checked.
