Is it safe to go out for a night of birthday drinks after a body lift?

Hi Cole99,Congratulations on your 360 circumferential lower body lift.  At this point, having undergone the 360 circumferential lower body lift, I am sure you have invested a significant amount of time, pain, and expense. First of all, as a medical doctor,  I do not suggest drinking alcohol at all. However, if you must drink, I would advise that you ONLY have one or two drinks maximum. My concern is that if you drink too much, you may be a little uncoordinated in your new body and you may fall.  Given enough force from the fall in just the right place, the incision could split open.  This fall may ruin your lower body lift results.  It would be sad to jeopardize your 360 circumferential lower body lift results for just one or two drinks.Anyway, happy birthday! Congratulations on your body lift surgery.  Your plastic surgeon will be able to advise you based on your individual recovery and his knowledge of your progress since surgery.  Its not unreasonable as this stage of your recovery to enjoy going out for an evening but it would be unwise to be drinking excess alcohol.  There is no reason to suggest that you can't enjoy a birthday celebration with drinking.

The best person to determine if you are ready to go out on the town is your surgeon.  If your surgeon has limited your activity in the post-op period, your best bet is to wait until you get clearance from him/her.  Good luck with the rest of your recovery and Happy Birthday!

I would not recommend a girls night out of drinking at 10 weeks postop.  Especially since you have already has a complication with a seroma that was drained 2 weeks ago.  If you are going to have a drink with dinner I think that is ok, but you will make your recovery longer and there may be more complications if you drink heavily.  Good luck and keep trying to call your PS for input as well.

I do not recommend seeking postoperative instructions/advice from anyone other than your surgeon.  Refer back to the instructions provided to you after your surgery and continue to try to contact your surgeon for a definitive answer to your postop questions.
