I had a Hair Transplant 3 months ago, will frequent daily itching of my scalp affect my transplant?

Itching of your scalp shouldn't affect your transplant after 3 months, but you should follow up with your doctor for a recheck.

At this stage "daily itching" will not adversely affect your grafts. It will actually promote circulation and can be a benefit. You may want to have a medical provider evaluate your scalp for any condition that may be inflammatory. Some diagnoses could affect your transplants.

Itching can occur post transplant. The cause of itching at week 1 is often different than the cause at month 1 and different yet than the cause at month 3. Be sure to see your surgeon to help you evaluate what is going on. In general, Itching at month 3 may be due to folliculitis as well as irritation from any topical products you are using (such as minoxidil or Rogaine). Other causes are also possible too. Your surgeon can give advice to reduce the itching. It is important to reduce itching.  Hair breakage and scalp skin textural changes can occur from too frequent itching. 

Itching is not unusual after hair transplant and is often caused by dryness of the scalp. At three months, this should be subsiding, so follow up with your surgeon to express your concerns.

Though after 3 months the new grafts should not be effected by scratching, you should consult your physician about shampoo or topical medications to help diminish the itching on your scalp.  Long term inflammation or irritation can damage the scalp and may lead to hair loss.  Be sure to follow up with your transplant surgeon and see what they may recommend.  Good luck
