Skin discoloration following Facial Hair Transplant normal?

I had facial hair transplant surgery in an attempt to grow a mustache/ goatee. Now, 8 months post surgery my skin is still discolored in that region from the bruising. There is a slight darker tint in that area compared to the rest of my face, as if I drew in a goatee. It looks terrible :( I have been on a Hydroquinone skin lightening cream for the past two weeks but I cant say that I have noticed much of a result. Will anything help. Please help Thank you

Skin discoloration after a hair transplant surgery is not normal especially after 8 months.  It is always a good idea to follow up with your doctor for a recheck.

It is important to follow up with the surgeon that performed your procedure todetermine if what you are experiencing is staining from the bruising (generallybrownish) or a post inflammatory response(generally more reddish purple,possibly purple brown).  Though Hydroquinone creams can be quite effectivethey unfortunately take much longer than 2 weeks to notice a discernibledifference in skin color.  Often we will combine hydroquinone with tretinointo accelerate the process.  Any discoloration should resolve in timeregardless but follow up with your surgeon so they can suggest productsthat may help it to resolve more quickly. I seem to be seeing such complaints on realself, yet we have not experienced such problems. I suspect that there is something different than what we are doing. I would have to see you to understand your problem

It is not normal to get skin discoloration after hair transplant procedure. You need to do a follow up visit with your doctor or see a dermatologist to find the cause.
