I had facial hair transplant surgery in an attempt to grow a mustache/ goatee. Now, 8 months post surgery my skin is still discolored in that region from the bruising. There is a slight darker tint in that area compared to the rest of my face, as if I drew in a goatee. It looks terrible :( I have been on a Hydroquinone skin lightening cream for the past two weeks but I cant say that I have noticed much of a result. Will anything help. Please help Thank you

Answer: Skin discoloration after a hair transplant surgery is not normal especially after 8 months.

Your own immune system will reject the transplanted hair from another person, so therefore the risks involved out weight the benefits of hair transplant.
From about 7 days on, there would be very little that you could do to damage a hair transplant. So, I would stop worrying but certainly inform the transplanting physician about your concerns.Dr John E Frank, MDNew York City
