Grade 1 gyno - is gyno surgery without scars possible? (Photos)

Question

Hi I was told I have grade 1 gyno but I keep looking up post operative results and they all seem to have visible scars . I have a hairless chest so I was wondering if I c find a surgeon that can do something better than the traditional areolar(semilunar) scar ! ??

Though the conventional teaching has been that liposuction cannot remove breast tissue, I have found that I can remove the breast tissue with liposuction alone. This allows for small segmental reduction of the breast to produce the best contour possible and avoid over resection, cratering, and contour deformities. This also provides for much less scarring and potential poor scarring concerns.

There is an alternative to using an open peri-areolar approach for the correction of gynecomastia. I have been using the Lateral Pull Through technique for at least 15 years. It includes liposuction, ultrasonic liposuction AND excision of the breast gland tissue all through a half inch incision on the side of the chest.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Any surgery will leave scar but with a good technique scars should be minimal. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

With the "pull through" technique I use there is never a scar around the areola. Doing a scar around the nipple is VERY outdated. You can read more on my website but long story short I first address all the extra fat under the skin with power assisted liposuction. Then, the small "breast bud" under the nipple is carefully removed via custom made instruments through a 0.5cm incision hidden away from the nipple. When this heals it looks like an old acne scar or a mole. VERY inconspicuous. Anyway, before you book surgery with somebody make sure they offer this comprehensive treatment.

I understand your concern, incision site depends on each Surgeon's preference.
 In our hospital we do incision on 1/4th of the circumference of areola and for liposuction at the junction of chest and axilla.  We have found that both these places scars are less visible.

liposuction with pull through breast tissue removal will correct your gynecomastia. The incision is a half inch (2.5cm) long and if placed in the breast crease at a plumb line straight down from where the arm and the armpit meet, the incision will be nearly invisible.
Unfortunately we still need incisions to gain access to the underlying structures. Plastic surgeons know how to hide them in plain site (see facelift or eyelid incisions).

Greed 1 gynaecomastia could be treated with liposuction and/or gland excision where is appropriate. The healing process would involve a compression garment for a number of weeks following the procedure but I would not expect any extra scars apart from small liposuction ports or half circle in the transition zone around the areola

Breast tissue will not come out using liposuction so the only way to do the procedure effectively is an aeriola incision.

With time those incisions tend to be pretty forgiving.

If you want the procedure done correctly then I suggest opting for a procedure that allows the surgeon the approach to do the job correctly.

Liposuction alone will leave you disappointed.

Thank you for your question and photos. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as scarless surgery. The best we can do is hide the scar where it does not draw the attention of the eye. Traditional approaches, the around the lower half of the areola incision, leave the areolas looking "operated on" . Hiding the incision in the arm pit is the best way to treat the gynecomastia with liposuction and direct gland excision, to fully treat the condition. Not all surgeons are adept at this technique. So interview several board certified plastic surgeons until you find one you are comfortable with.Best wishes,Dr. Morrissey

you are completely wasting your time, if you are hoping for a non-invasive way to reduce your chest fullness. it will not work. Nor is there some medication you can take it make it disappear. It comes down to a choice you have to make in life - it is fine if your chest does not bother you that much, in which case save the money and having a scar. On the other hand, if you are bothered by your chest, the only real way to improve this is with surgery and it requires a small scar. The scar is placed where the color changes from the areola to the skin of the chest and that usually blends in very well. However, you will be totally wasting your time and money if you try something non-invasive. it will NOT work
