What vitamins should I be taking before surgery besides iron?

I prefer patients take a multivitamin and sometimes Vitamin C. Best to ask your surgeon his preferences. 

Its always good to bust your hemoglobin levels by taking iron , folic acid , vitamin C and vitamin B12 before surgery . All these better your blood count. Avoid vitamin E and herbal extracts before surgery, to prevent unnecessary bleeding in surgery . best wishes

Excellent Question!!!Nutrition is everything.  Yes take double or triple the recommended daily allowance. Remember the daily allowance is the bear minimum to prevent disease most of the time.   Incision healing time is much decreased and less scar with optimized nutrition.Please refer to link below for restriction of blood thinning herbs and medications.I wish you well in your recovery.Dr McAdoo
