The short answer is - 3 weeks. The longer answer is that BBL results are highly dependent on the surgeon's process and surgical technique along with the patient's adherence to post-op instructions.Liposuction is first part of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, followed by processing of the fat that has been extracted and then reinjecting the processed fat.Because the BBL is a fat grafting procedure, the recovery period is at least 3 weeks. If you sit on your buttocks sooner than that, it can prevent some of the fat grafts from surviving. Squatting and stretching are not as bad as sitting, but they can also place significant shear and tear stress on the tissues.During those initial 3 weeks, the the blood vessels grow into the fat grafts, they begin to strengthen, and the extracellular matrix surrounding the fat graft takes another 2-3 weeks to reach enough strength to withstand minor stresses - which is why 3 weeks is the earliest a patient can begin stressing the tissues. You should plan for 3 weeks of mostly resting on your stomach and/or sides, getting up occasionally to limber up the muscles, but avoiding anything that places stress on the healing tissues. We advise our BBL patients as follows:Bed rest and fluids for the first week.Compression garment 24 hours a day for the first two weeks.Minimum of two weeks off from work (if you can work without sitting in the 3rd week). No sitting for three weeks. No driving for three weeks.Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced with performing brazilian butt lifts and can explain the techniques used and answer all of your questions prior to surgery.Best wishes!
Hi and thanks for the question. For my patients the average amount of time required until returning to a desk job is about 10-14 days. By 6 weeks most patients have much of the soreness resolve. By 3-4 months is when the cosmetic results have really taken shape. Best of Luck- Dr Hardy
