Bags Under Lower Lip and Protruding Upper Jaw?

Question

My lips have a monkey-like appearance, with protrusion above upper lip and bags by lower lip. Why does this happen and how can it be corrected? I am currently in the middle of Invisalign treatment for an overbite/overreact and crowded lower teeth.

Thanks for this question. I think your teeth and the invisalign are affecting your smile. Another possibility is hypertrophy of the depressor anguli oris muscle (for the bottom protrusions) only. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO:)

your teeth is affecting your smile; mainly an over-bite is the cause. As soon
as you get your teeth fixed through braces, the results will be good. I

You asked a very important question that I am so happy that you brought out.  It is very important to understand that your smile is affected by how your teeth are positioned.  An over-bite definitely is causing the appearance that you don't like in your lips.  Once your dentition is corrected through the braces things will improve and then you can consider lip enhancement.  Best, Dr. Green
