I am getting hives on my incision line months after surgery. Should I see the dr and which do I see?

A rash around your incision line months after surgery is odd. I would suggest seeing your plastic surgeon before seeing another kind of physician because it is his/her work that is giving you trouble.Good luck!

Hi Gemini,Thanks for your question.  I'm not sure what could be causing your skin irritation, and it would require an in-person evaluation in the office to accurately diagnose you.  I'm sure your surgeon would want to see you for this.  One possibility is a rash beneath the breast due to moisture/perspiration, especially if this has been worse over the summer months.  Another possibility is a breakdown or surfacing of some of the suture material here from your surgery.  Either way, an office visit is the first step.  Hope this helps!--Erik Hoy, M.D.

Thank you for your question.  I'm sorry to hear of the difficulty you're having.  Hiser an indication of allergic reaction and since they're on the incision line you may be reacting to deep sutures which were left in place.  I would suggest you see your plastic surgeon first and if the Dr. chooses see a dermatologist for evaluation.  Good luck.
