My surgeon won't give me my ID Cards. Is this normal? I have asked and told they have to stay on file. How do I explain why I need them so they will give them to me or can I get a copy and that be sufficient enough.
Answer: Implant ID cards It is important for you to save your implant ID card for any future reference. It provides you with your implant information, ie: the make, model number, size and lot number. As stated if they will not give you the actual card they should be more than willing to provide you with a photocopy for you to have for your records. Definitely, speak with your plastic surgeon regarding this matter.

Answer: My surgeon won't give me my ID Cards. Is this normal? No, this certainly is not “normal”; it will be important for you to have the breast implants' information filed away for future reference. Patients undergoing breast augmentation surgery should understand that additional surgery is almost always indicated sometime in the future. Probably a miscommunication; make your request directly to your plastic surgeon to avoid the miscommunication. Best wishes.

Answer: My surgeon won't give me my ID cards. Is this normal? Hello and thank you for your question. First off, no this is absolutely not normal. There are identification stickers that come along with the breast implant identification card. You should have been provided with a card and different ID for each breast implant. These cards will provide you with the manufacturer, reference number, and serial number for each implant. These are important to retain for your records as you will need this information at a later time. Please note that most breast implants come with some form of warranty as well. You have the option of purchasing an extended warranty, however, the information needed to be submitted to the manufacturer following your surgery. You should have had some communication from them letting you know that your implants have been registered. Should at anytime there be a recall or defect in the device, this allows they have the correct information to contact you. My suggestion would be at the least to obtain copies of the ID cards for each implant and contact the manufacturer accordingly to ensure that the implants have been registered. I hope this information helps you and good luck.Fadi Chahin MD, FACSPlastic and Reconstructive SurgeryDiplomat-American Board of SurgeryDiplomat-American Board of Plastic Surgery
