There is almost no difference between the appearance of the top part of the ear 2 months post op otoplasty, bad results?

Question

I had an otoplasty 2 months ago. After the surgery the doctor told me to wear a headband all day during one week and then wear it for another 2 weeks only at night. After those 2 weeks my ears seems to pop out. There is almost no difference between the appearance of the top part of the ear before and after the surgery . My doctor says that the result is fine but I'm very disappointed. I would like to hear more opinions Thanks

The top of your ears should still be brought closer to your head. The gentlest way of doing this is with the Dr Merck Stitch Method as the ear is not cut open but only treated with needle prick points and stitches.

I am sorry you are disappointed in your result. It is fairly early, however, to come to a final conclusion regarding your otoplasty. I would give it 3-6 months. If by then, you are still unhappy, compare your before and after pictures with your surgeon, and discuss your concerns in detail.  Multiple otoplasty techniques are used depending upon the goals of surgery. In your consultation with your surgeon, make sure you are very specific as to what bothers you about the appearance of each ear.  Ears are complex structures.  There isn't just one technique that addresses each issue. Seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced with external ear surgery. Hello. I am sorry you are disappointed with your surgery.  Understand that it is difficult to assess your results with the photographs you have provided.  However, often, the top of the ear may be undercorrected following otoplasty.  It may be possivble to simply excise skin behind the ear near the top to bring that part of the ear closer to the head.  2 Months is too early to do this and I would wait another 3-4 months to do this.  Make sure you discuss your concerns with your surgeon.  If he/she is not willing to address the issue, then find another board certified plastic surgeon.  Good luck!
