What is the difference between lefort 1 and lip repositioning surgery?

A LeFort surgery involves breaking the upper jaw under general anesthesia and moving it superiorly to hide the gummy smile. It usually involves braces and a dental malocclusion. Lip repositioning surgery can be done in the office and reduces the lip vestibule thereby limiting the activity of the upper lip. A LeFort surgery will provide a better result but the surgery is more involved.

Since you did not provide photos even for an initial assessment, the general answer to your question is that Lefort 1 involves bone repositioning (maxillary bone) while Lip Repositioning only involves the soft tissue. Lip repositioning is usually beneficial for mild cases (and it will have a shorter recovery period), while Lefort 1 is usually used for severe cases especially those with accompanying lip incompetence (cannot close mouth at rest or even with a force)
