Hello, recently I have been massaging my scar tissue on a 2 year old operation site (gynecomastia) for almost 3-4 months now. I have been kind of obsessing over the lumpy scar tissue under my skin, wanting it to not be something hard when I pinch it, so I have been massaging, pinching, twisting, rolling the sight with my fingers every day. I do think it worked to a degree as of recently, and haven't been doing it the past 5 days, but I worry if i caused permanent discoloring to the skin.

I understand your concern. Generally speaking, bruising shouldn't be permanent. If you are concerned, it is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

It is very likely that tissue you feel under your fingers (scar) is residual, unresected breast tissue. It is relatively frequent after conservative reduction. It can be treated in local anesthesia with removal of redundant tissue.. You should discuss this option with your surgeon. Good luck.
