Inner ear infections - is this something common that occurs after otoplasty ?

I had my otoplasty about 2 years ago. My surgery went great and am happy with the results. But I keep getting recurrent inner ear infections with vertigo if my sinuses become congested at all. My first infection was a month after surgery with multiple infections the following year. I never had this issue prior to surgery. It has started to really impede my daily life. My ear gets sharp pains, fullness, muffled hearing, and severe vertigo when it happens. Is this something common that occurs?

Otoplasty targets the outer ear and does not modify the inner ear structure. For this reason, it is highly unlikely that your ear infections would be associated with your surgery. Please see an ENT (Otolaryngologist) for an assessment to determine the cause of your recurring ear infections.

Hello, hope you are well. Thank you for submitting your questions. The sinus congestion and ear infections are unrelated to your history of otoplasty. The disease process is generally caused by eustachian tube dysfunction, not the shape of your external ear. The most appropriate specialist to see for management would be an ENT.
