Should I wait for BA?

The sickle cell anemia is the thing that concerns me the most.  I would consult with a hematologist to make sure your surgery can be performed safely.

Thanks so much for your question.  I agree with others that you want to be safe as this is elective surgery.  You would be very wise to be seen by our primary care doctor and also possibly a hematologist and make sure that you are a safe candidate for any elective surgery.  This type of surgery isn't any more or less dangerous than other elective surgeries so it's less a matter of the procedure and more a matter of your underlying health.  

SIckle cell adds risk to any operation.  Any reduction in oxygen in the blood stream can cause sickling and precipitate a sickle cell crisis. The judgement going in to decision to proceed with elective surgery is one that would require teamwork, including in the process your hematologist, your surgeon, your anesthesiologist. The team may well recommend against, or may recommend surgery be done in a hospital rather than an outpatient surgicenter. All the best. 

You need medical clearance from your hematologist to ensure you have the safest elective procedure possible. There is no reason to wait outside of getting your clearance. The only thing that should hold you up is if you are planning on having further children.

You should be able to get a consult and speak with a plastic surgeon about these issues. Its likely your hematologist will be asked to give you a preop eval as well. Best wishes.

The sickle cell is very important, as any oxygen stress can trigger a crisis. First of all you need a surgical clearance form your haematologist and then anesthesias need to see and evaluate you for risks.
