2 years ago I had a mommy makeover and my results were not the best and I had a surgeon that flew in from GA do the surgery because the original surgeon I picked was on a permanent leave of absence. I waited 2 years to go in and see the new surgeon Dr. Barnes for revisions because i was so nervous to get revisions and have the same thing happen so I wanted to make sure Dr. Barnes was sticking around and hear some reviews about him. I had my pre op/revision appointment with him and immediately he made me feel comfortable and saw the areas I was concerned with and said he could fix them. He was very knowledgeable and his bedside manner was impeccable. Also the staff has always been amazing at Athenix from the front desk girls to the nurses to the anesthesiologist. I am 4 days post op from my revisions and could cry when I look at myself! Dr. Barnes did an incredible job! He is definitely a 10/10 surgeon and I would recommend him to any of my friends! Thank you so much!!
I am a 31 yr old female with 2 kids (youngest is 2). Before having my 2nd child I managed to lose 178lbs naturally. Went from 378 to 200. Then I gained 62 during pregnancy and have lost around 35 of it. So I've plateaued at/around 230. After my second pregnancy my lower half of my abdomen was causing issues with rashes, irritation, burning etc. This was also the same with my chest. I looked into numerous ways to help this- I actually was able to submit to insurance for reconstructive surgery and it was approved. I had surgery on 2/26/20. I healed very well ... and was coach soccer practice 3 days after surgery...! 1 week after surgery I was able to walk over 12,000 steps and get my draining tubes out and fly to Washington DC 2 weeks after surgery. I know this is a little more advance then what normal recovery time looks like but my schedule doesn't allow it. But it also worked best for me and I think it helped speed up the healing process. Again, not a full tummy tuck, no lipo, no tightening of the abdominal muscles, and excess skin was removed from chest and Nipples were repositioned. I am now looking at getting high definition "vaser" lipo for my lower half to give me a more proportion look. I hope I can get soon- Overall, I am happy with the results so far especially being only a month out of surgery!
A huge thank you to Dr. Barnes. He was an amazing surgeon that took care of me throughout the entire journey. He is so patient and comforting with any concerns I had. There were a few times I called with questions and he always called back a few hours later to check in with me again. That follow up meant the world to me during my recovery. I would recommend Dr. Barnes to anyone. I have full trust in him and would want to have my loved ones taken care of by him as well. Thank you Dr. Barnes for the amazing care. I appreciate you and your staff!
Hello everyone, ive been wanting a BA for over 15 years. Ive always been small chested, even with my pregnancy i didnt get bigger than a B, while ive learned to live with having a small chest its always been in the back of my mind. My husband didnt want me to change anything about myself, he always daid im perfect the way i am, but after many deep conversation i think he finally realized why i wanted it and finally gave me his blessings, which meant a lot to me. So I had my pre-op on Aug.22, 2017 and my surgery is scheduled for Sept.7, 2017. I chose Mentor Silicone gel smooth round and my PS recommened 450cc in my left breast and 475cc in my right to correct slight symmetry. He also suggested High Profile. I will update a day before my surgery, and there after. Im so excited ive waited a long time for this. I will post my stats again at the bottom. 5'7 145lbs 34 A/B 450/475cc Silicone gel HP Updated on 5 Sep 2017: Just thought id share a few full body pics of my body type before it changes lol. Ive always had a lil junk in the trunk and always wanted a top half to match it, buying bikins almost impossible i wore small top and large bottoms lol, hopefully after thursday i will. Im really hoping to come out around a C but id be happy at a small D as well lol. Been trying to get everything done, all the laundry, shopping, and deep cleaning, before the big day. I cant believe how fast the days have been going by. Pre-surgery jitters havent kicked in yet, but im sure they will tomorrow lol. I guess thats all for now. Thank you for the support. Kind regards. Updated on 7 Sep 2017: So i had my surgery around 11am today. Everything went great. My surgeon Dr. Barnes is the absolute greatest, along with the rest of his staff, his bedside manner is awesome. His nurse Racheal made me feel so at ease, she was aware of my fear of needles and did a fantastic job inserting my IV. The anesthesiologist Shawn was great he explained every detail to me and my husband and as soon as he administered my "happy juice" into my IV, the last thing i remember is saying "this stuff works fast" lol. Before i knew it i was awake in the recovery room with my nurse who was extremely professional and kind. I had no side effects what so ever from the anesthesia, absolutely no nausea at all, and was actually pretty hungry when i woke up. As far as pain i havent really experienced much pain today, but i have been taken my pain meds as directed, just extreme pressure, especially in the middle of my chest. I think ill take a muscle relaxer before bed just to make sure i get to sleep tonight. Well i guess thats all for todays update, i have attached a few pics from today after surgery, and ill try to take some better ones tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your kind words and ill keep you updated on my progress. :) Review of what i got: Mentor round silicone gel implants 475cc right breast/ 450cc in left Under the muscle Inframammary fold incision Updated on 8 Sep 2017: So im 1 day post-op and i feel pretty good. Not really experiencing any pain just a little tightness but thats expected. Im taking my pain meds (Tramadol) as advised every 4-6 hours, i take them at the 5 hour mark. Started my Arnica pills today for the swelling. I also was prescribed Zofran but i havent needed it yet. I took 1 muscle relaxer last night befor bed but i havent really experienced any muscle spasms yet. I'd have to say so far my recovery is going very smoothly, i pray that it continues. Well i guess thats all i have to update today. Going to eat some lunch right now. Let me know if you ladies have any questions and have a wonderful day :) Updated on 12 Sep 2017: I am 5 days post-op today im still pretty tight and swollen but i can start to see just a tiny bit of dropping. My left (450cc) is dropping faster than my right (475cc) i guess thats expected. It is definitely a weird feeling not going to lie, im sure with time they will start to feel more like a part of my body. I see my PS tomorrow for my first post-op appt. hopefully i will learn some massages or get a compression strap to help them drop faster. I still have that "torpedo boob" thing going on when my bra is off, so i hope they start to look a bit more like their selfs soon, i think i had a bit of booby blues for the last 2 days, thinking "what did i do" but im feeling a bit better about it today. I posted a few pics of what they are looking like today, just to recap i got 450/475 silicone hp smooth round implants under the muscle inframmamory fold incision. Updated on 18 Sep 2017: So im starting to see quite a bit of dropping, more in my left. Im so excited, this is my first time ever buying bras with no padding. Haven't been sized yet but the white bra is a 38C, that is exactly the size i was looking to achieve!! :) I know i still have a ways to go to see the final results but im pleased so far. Updated on 21 Sep 2017: Im exactly 2 weeks post-op today and i have to say my recovery has been so smooth. I love my PS and his staff he is absolutely the best and though he is a younger guy, he seems so experienced, he does things a little differently. After my first week post-op he had me go completely bra less, i could wear a loose cami but that was it, and im suppose to still go bra less until my 4 week appt. He says its to help with dropping and he doesnt recommend me massaging either or wearing a compression strap. I posted a couple pics of my self in one of my favorite body con dresses before and after my BA and im excited that it finally fits the way its suppose to...im really happy with my results so far, i know i still have a ways to go, but so far so good! :) Updated on 28 Sep 2017: Im exactly 3 weeks post-op today...yay! I went to VS to get sized and according to them, im a 34DD. Didnt buy any bras from there yet, waiting until i get closer to my final results. I did stop a Jc Penny and pick up a few of these cute bralettes for $10. I still have to wear the brown tape on my incisions for another week, i did get to see them at my 2 week appt. and they looked like they were healing nicely, but after that hopefully i can start my scar therapy. My left boob is still got some dropping to do and they are getting softer everyday. I have absolutely no numbness anymore, my nipples are a tad bit sensitive but nothing too crazy. I think thats about it for now, ill update again at my 1 month :) Updated on 4 Oct 2017: 27 days post op...tomorrow is exactly my 1 month mark post-op. I feel like everything is going extremely well so far, they are dropping and softening more everyday, my left more than my right but i was told that because im right handed its to be expected. I feel they are just the right size for my body and lifestyle. I can hide them in some clothes or be a bit more revealing in others when i choose to :) im still not allowed to wear bras with underwires for a couple more weeks but ive gotten so comfortable wearing camis and bralettes, dont know that ill even want to lol. My incisions are looking good so far, im still wearing the brown tape for 2 more weeks then I can start scar treatment. I've attached a few pics of what my incisions look like today and how my "girls" sit in a cami with no bra...im so happy with my results so far. Updated on 12 Oct 2017: I can't believe how fast the weeks go by. I am exactly 5 weeks post-op today, i feel great, i am almost back to doing everything i did before, except lifting heavy items. My right breast is still a little higher than my left but i am hopeful that it will even itself out in time. They are getting softer everday but there is still a little tightness towards the top, which i was told is normal especially when you go under the muscle, so im not too worried at the moment. I go for my 6 week appointment next thursday, I'm hoping i don't have to wear the brown tape on my incisions any longer and can start scar therapy. I'm still not wearing any regular bras yet just camis and bralettes, hopefully at my next appointment i will get the go ahead to start. I took a few pics of how the "girls" look in a v-neck shirt and teddy. Will update again after my next appointment, happy healing everyone :) Updated on 20 Oct 2017: 6 weeks post-op and what a difference. I added some pics of my journey along the way to encourage others at the many stages you may encounter before you start to look, "Normal" so to speak, again. I also did some bra shopping at VS yesterday and picked up a few regular bras since i got the go ahead from my surgeon yesterday. He said everything looked great and in its place so i can return to my everyday routine, just to not over due it on upper body workouts. I probably will only do updates every 3 months until i hit my 1 year mark so it was a pleasure to share my journey with you ladies and wish you all a wonderful journey of your own. :) Updated on 2 Nov 2017: Well im exactly 8 weeks post-op today :) i was going to wait until my 3 month mark before i posted again, but i seen some slight changes in just 2 weeks so i thought id share with you lovely ladies. I think im in that "fluff" stage now because they are starting to look fuller to me. Its weird, some days they look kinda small to me and other days they look huge lol. I posted a few pics i took this morning of a front and side view, as well as how my scars are looking at 8 weeks. I also attached a side by side pic of 6 weeks vs 8 weeks for comparison. Let me know if you ladies see a change or is it only in my head lol. Also any advice for treating new stretch marks, i had some previously due to pregnancy, but i have noticed a few new ones as well. Updated on 29 Nov 2017: Tomorrow i will be exactly 3 months post-op, where has the time gone. My journey has been smooth so far, im am by no means "perfect" nor have i ever expected to be, i knew realistically going into surgery that i would just be a bigger version of my same self, yes i was asymmetric and yes i had stretch marks before hand and my surgeon was very clear with me of what to expect afterwards. With that said im very pleased with my results, he couldnt have done a better job. Im very comfortable with my body now and feel confident in my wardrobe, not having to worry about if i can wear a bra with this top or that one has boosted my confidence, which in turn allows me to actually enjoy shopping now. I've attached a few before and after comparison photos. Recap on stats and size: 5'7 145lb 450/475cc HP Mentor silicone cohesive gel Before 34 A/B After 34DD Updated on 29 Nov 2017: I forgot to add the incision pics lol. I haven't started any scar treatment yet just bio oil here and there. Updated on 25 Jan 2018: 5 months post-op today...where has the time gone? I have noticed some changes here in there but nothing drastic. I think they look pretty natural now, which makes me extremely happy because that is exactly what i wanted. I have noticed my scars are getting lighter and less visible, infact you cant even see them unless i lift my boobs up.. lol. I am very happy i decided to go through with the surgery. No regrets at all, I'm happy with the size and profile. My confidence when i have no clothes on, has improved ten folds which was my ultimate goal. I attached a few comparison pics of slight changes that occurred in a month. Updated on 1 Mar 2018: At 4 weeks my incisions were healed, but my surgeon had me wear that brown tape, changing it every 4-5 days, until 6 weeks. At 6 weeks i started scar treatment, i started using a little bit of Bio oil and gently massaging onto the incision area after every shower. At week 10 i started using Scar Stick, which i got from my surgeons office, i used it twice a day until the tube was empty. I know everyone's bodies are not the same so my results may not be the same as others, i also believe my surgeons skillfull hands played a huge part in my healing process. I hope everyone reading this has the best results possible!!
After ten long years of wanting a breast reduction I decided to face my fears and consulted with three surgeons in Bakersfield. The decision to go with Dr. Zach Barnes at Beautologie is one of the best decisions of my life! Every step of this experience from the first phone call, to the consultation, pre-op, surgery, post-op care and final visit has been top notch in patient care. The entire staff was professional, knowledgeable, and caring. The follow-up after surgery was incredible. My personal results were better than I could have ever imagined. My outlook on life has incredibly changed for the better. My back pain is gone and I no longer feel self-conscious and anxious when getting dressed to go in public. My only regret is that I didn't make the decision to do this years earlier. Thank you Beautologie, Dr. Zach Barnes, Meagan, and your entire staff from the bottom of my heart. I will be forever grateful. Kathy Olson
Amazing!! I had abdominal/flank liposuction and I couldn't be more pleased. Everyone from the receptionist, financial department to the nurses and Dr. Barnes himself were phenomenal! I highly recommend this facility.
I had previous breast surgery in 2011 that cause scaring and turned by breast into saggy bags. On Monday Jan.16, 2017 a great you doctorDr. Barnes turn me into a hot grandmother. This motivated me to hit the gym harder and stronger. I will add updated picture tomorrow from my followup appointment! It's true that a women appearance is everything.
He did such an amazing job! Very good bedside manner. Made me feel very comfortable. Always available to answer my questions no matter how small or silly they may be. I have my confidence back! I am so thankful to have had Dr Barnes as my surgeon and I will recommend him to anyone.
I had my first BA when I was 18, 420cc Saline implants.11 yrs later after working out I realized one deflated. I had initially thought about just removing them, but as it completely deflated it looked saggy. I decided to replace them with 500cc silicone implants. I had two consultations one out of town so I decided to go with Dr.Barnes since he was local and the office and staff was very well organized. My first thought of Dr. Barnes was that he was too young but he explained the procedure very well. I see many pictures where the breast are not very even so my main concern was too have even looking breast.I'm now going on two weeks after my surgery and I am very pleased with the results.
Hi everyone I'm 5'4 weight 138 I'm debating between 500cc and 550cc hp (sub) don't want to be disappointed need some opinions please! I want a good size breast size will 550cc be to big and have little tissue he took my measurements and said sense I have very little tissue it will be mostly inplant that will show hes doing it not under or over the mucle but in between from what I understood Updated on 19 Mar 2016: I'm so excited and ready for this!been wanting for this for a while now finally going to do it.Monday at 6:15 is my arrival time I was called on Friday to let me know, I also was sent an email in case I forget anything that said :) I have stocked up pretty good with easy to make food to make and will be given my kit of pills with instructions after surgery. I am getting a bit fustraded because I want to drop and fluff already but it's only been 4 days so it going to take some time, but can't wait :) Updated on 28 Mar 2016: Hi everyone so today I went in for my one week follow up and it went great i was told to start massaging only one time a day and only ten reps each aswell for also a month, I have seen and read so many different ways of massages but everyone surgeon is different. He was very impressed with my recovery he said I was ahead of the game and that I was dropping quite quickly and looking good, but that I wasn't allowed to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of milk so to take it easy but definitely start doing more walking around I'm off my pain medication and have a few mucle relaxers that was advised to take when heading to bed so won't be so drowsy and tired during the day. I'm also allowed to start the eleptical and treadmill machine at the gym which I'm happy about its better than nothing, to be honest I love weight training and never really do cardio unless I need a Lil warm up but never do more than 5 or 10 minutes,I started doing body weight squats in my room because I just couldnt stand not being able to work out bacause of my surgery, well have my next follow up in 3 weeks.Putting a pic of how doctor said i should massage to share with you guys also some others ones I took while waiting in the waiting room today, hope my journey helps others with more of my BA journey, will be posting my next review when I go in for my 3 week follow up which is on the 13th can't wait to see what my doctor tells me and hoping this time he gives me the green light first BA You qualify for the mentor inhanced warranty, your implants have life time warranty but will not cover surgery and anasthesa fees with the inhanced warranty you will get assistance with 3,500 financially which is a big help. It's 200$ to enroll which I think is money well spent even though mentor inplants are known to be really great inplants you just never know, and it gives me a peace of mind :) if you want to know more about it you can go to www.mentorwwllc.com or call 1-800-mentor8 Updated on 11 Apr 2016: Hey ladies just reporting my 3 week post op!well nothing much has changed yet 2016: My surgeon said that I'm looking really good, from my recovery process he said I look like I'm one month post op not 3 and a half weeks I got the green light to star doing lower body but should wait a Lil longer to start doing upper body also he suggested to buy one or two inexpensive wire bras ,he said in two to three weeks I should experience a Lil more dropping but alot of fluffing and that the underwired bras will help the shaping of my results I was given a scar stick which I have to apply twice a day oh yeah and to buy a really support bra for the gym:) Updated on 15 Apr 2016: Wanted to add this full body pictures I been taking to my breast augmentation journey,I have to say I just love how my shirts fit me now more than ever, I feel so sexy and confident with my 550cc and so ready for the drop and fluff process. My surgeon told me that in two or three weeks they will drop just a bit more but fluff alot so I'm so ready for that.On another subject I went to the gym today for lower body only was advised not to do no upper body for couple months and I have to admit I was a little scared didn't want to go to hard my workout partner took good care of me making sure I was ok in all that I did I love her she's awsome:),anyway I ran into a friend of mine who also had a ba and reminded me to be very careful about what I do and how I do it because she said she didn't want me to end up like her,she didn't listen and started doing to much to soon and one of her breast wasn't dropping right. She had gotten a capsular contracture and they had to redue one of breast,so yea I need to be careful and take it easy felt good being back though hope you guys like my pictures and if you guys have any questions don't hesitate to ask im more than happy share my journey with you limited in wearing my old ones and came across this jumpsuit thought it be fun to try it on not to buy just to see how it would look my husband would never let me wear something like this in public lol and took some pics because I loved how much girls are looking, let me know what you girls think, cute or no? Updated on 21 Apr 2016: I'm so happy I'm officially one month post op today!and to all the girls who are on the other side or are thinking about getting a ba let me just say it get better I mean i have alot of changes to go though still but I feel so good, sexy and happy with my self.I don't regret for a minute getting my BA,I love trying on clothing that I would've never thought of putting on because I was so small before, but now I have fun with it and feel so sexy and confident with myself in my intimacy and with clothing whether it's on or off body.I will continue to keep posting and pay it foward and suggest you guys do the same it a big help for the girls that want more insight on breast augmentation or going to get one soon or are in the process.Really appreciate you girls who keep posting thankyou! here are some pics before and after my BA looking forward to your post :) Updated on 26 Apr 2016: Hi ladies hoping everyone is having an awesome day! Well as for me and my girls were doing well they are getting softer as the days pass by and oh yea, it been almost two weeks already that I don't get morning boob no more sorry forgot to add that before and I'm so happy about it. So this is the bra with underwire I been advised to wear to help them shape out I got just one because my ps not to get to many or pricy ones because of all my changes, purchased it at Walmart it's a 38C but the worker there warmed me the Walmart sizes are way off which I believe it's true cause I know I'm going to be a D don't know how big just yet though but she said that I will probably be a bigger size somewhere else but I was ok with it for now not worried about my measurement just yet I mean when I go to the gym I wear a 38D in my max support sports bras from champion so go figure lol . My scars are doing and looking well as well :) Updated on 21 May 2016: HI everyone been waiting to hit my two month mark to post my progress, today is the day happy to report that everything is great i get little pains here and there but it's normal from all my nerves and everything in there getting stable i haven't got fitted yet taking my time still have changes to go though but I did buy one more bra from Walmart which I'm a 38C in. Also my left is still dropping quicker than the right but it's normal as well, here are some pics Updated on 8 Jun 2016: So today I had my last check up with my doctor, went good he said everything is looking great i did ask him about a concern I had though which was that my right feels just a bit firmer than my left he said I shouldn't be concerned about it because even though is a bit firmer it still really soft and it is but sense my left feels squishyer I was thinking both should be that way but I guess not and my right needs to catch up so with time I'm berly 2 and a half months so I getting there. Also I became a VIP Member which I thought it was neat here are some pics of things I got today Updated on 23 Jun 2016: Hey everyone want to hi!and report my 3rd month progress everything is good great here are some pics if you have any questions about anything let me know :)
Whether or not you get good cleavage or closure of the space between the breasts depends on three main factors in addition to the size of your implant. 1. Where the breast footprint sits on your rib cage, that is if they are close/far to each other. 2. Width of your sternal bone. 3. The degree of curvature of your ribs. In most people the gap gets better, but someone with an extreme case of one or more of the above factors may have a wider than normal one, or even get worse. In the end you want the implant basically centered around the nipple area. In your case you appear not to have an extreme version of any of those things and will likely have improvement in the space between breasts. The bolt on look will be dependent on the size you choose (and is normal early on before everything relaxes).
Yes, this is totally normal. You can think of each side as a separate operation and they will move at their own paces. They will be on the same general schedule though.
They will settle into the proper position, so the size will move more toward being centered on the nipple than above it as they are now. You also do have some swelling which makes them fuller right now. Usually some tissue relaxation in a few months helps to soften and round things out as well, as your tissues are tight right now.
This is unfortunately one of the more common issues with implants. It can occur immediately after or decades later. Whether or not it needs surgery depends on how severe the contracture is, which usually corresponds to how much it affects the look of results. A mild contracture might not be as soft as normal but may look completely normal. A more severe one will feel and look different. There are ways to try to prevent it, but if it is severe and doesnt go away after trying non surgical options then surgery is the only way to treat it.
Often lumps around this area are stitches. I would suggest visiting your surgeon and having it examined. Usually if absorbable stitches are used they will go away in time.
