Hi, I seem to be experiencing side effects that aren't reported too often. periodically over the past 3 days I feel nauseous & also getting slight muscle & joint pain, especially in my hands. I tried to squeeze toothpaste out the other day & could really feel a stiffness/pain in my wrists. My plan now is to reduce my intake to 1 tablet every other day to see if that makes any difference. I'm hoping that it's my body adjusting to the medication & eventually the sides will dissipate.
Answer: Muscle and joint pains - Finasteride You'll want to see your doctor to review as I really can't say if related without the whole story. But yes, muscle pain and even increased muscle enzymes (CK) can rarely happen with finasteride. Please see your doctor if symptoms persist. In my practice, I often order a blood test for muscle injury called "CK" if my patient has muscle symptoms. I have provided a reference for your interest. Please see your prescriber for further discussion and review. Reference Finasteride-induced myalgia and HyperCKemia.Al-Harbi TM, et al. J Clin Neuromuscul Dis. 2008.

Answer: Finasteride Side Effects Finasteride is an amazing DHT blocker and it is one of the strongest on the market. However, Less than 1.8% of patients find that they might get sexual side effects being low libido or erectile dysfunction. If that should happen, You will know within the first two weeks. Its not like if you have been using it for a month the side effects will creep up on you. If you don't have them in the first 2 weeks you are simply not going to gain them. However, What I like to tell each of our patients is that if you start by cutting the pill in half the side effects are gone and it goes down from being 90% effective to 75%. Still 75% effective is still amazing and there are no potential side effects. I have never heard of the symptoms that you are describing. Have you started any other medications or prescriptions close to the time that you have started Finasteride? Hope this information helps.

Answer: Side effects to Finasteride Hi,I have never heard these complaints from Finasteride. My guess is that it is a coincidence that these symptoms appeared so quickly after starting this medication. If the symptoms don't go away, I would suggest going off it for a few weeks and see what happens. If they don't go away, book a follow up with your regular doctor,Dr. Robert Jones
