Thank you for your question. Breast implant selection is an exciting, but stressful part of the breast augmentation process as there are so many choices. Unfortunately it is impossible to recommend the best implant style, size or shape without an in-person examination that allows for the measurement of key breast parameters, as well as permits an in-depth discussion as to your desired goals and outcome. I would recommend you see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon, they are in the best position to ensure that the implants the two of your decide upon are the right ones to meet your expectations. It sounds as if it may be wise for you to "try on" several of the implants so that you can have a better visual representation as to what they would look like. Best wishes!
Unfortunately there is not one answer or formula. Fortunately, there are multiple potential implant sizes that could result in a very pretty outcome for you. Without a physical examination it is difficult to respondwith accuracy, but the best way to determine which breast implant size is bestfor you is by first finding out your specific wishes not only with words orletters as in cup size or “not too big” or “natural”, but also with a visualunderstanding of what you hope to look like. This can be accomplished eitherwith photographs of patients whose breasts and body type look like you, orideally with photos of patients not only whose breasts and body type visually aresimilar to yours, but are also a similar height, weight, and pre-operativebreast size. In our own practice we have provided that unique functionality onour website to accomplish exactly that. Unfortunately the most common reason for a woman to beunhappy after her augmentation is feeling as though she is either too big ornot big enough. Thankfully, in our practice this is rarely a problem becauseimplant size selection is what we spend most of our time discussing anddetermining. I do not place the onus of selecting the breast implant size on mypatients since they are coming to me for my advice and expertise, but I do askmy patients to be as specific as possible about their aesthetic goals and I thenadvise them accordingly. I would advise you to seek the advice of a board certifiedplastic surgeon experienced in breast enhancement surgery and make sure thatyour own sense of aesthetics aligns with that of your plastic surgeon. Youridea of “natural” or “pretty” or “proportionate” might be different from yourplastic surgeon’s and it is very important for you to feel confident that youare both of like minds as far as the goals. Best of luck to you and I hope youare successful in achieving the enhancement you are seeking.
Thanks for your question. There is no specific "ideal" breast size for women. It should be the right breast size that you are going to be happy at.In recommending implant size, I base it on dimensional planning (on each patient's chest width, chest height, breast tissue) and her desired look. Please review before and after photo gallery and select the look that you desire. After examining you in-person and understanding your goal, your plastic surgeon should guide you to the right implant size for you. Please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn about implant and augmentation.Best regards.
Hello and thank you for your question. First of all, every woman has a unique view of their body image and ideal shape. With respect to breast implants, I want to start off by tellingyou what I tell many of my patients: Do not focus on cc's or bra sizesas many women see their friend with "x" number of cc implants etc andthink that they have an idea of what they want. There is a lot that goes intoimplant selection -- your breast volume, the amount of cleavage you wantto achieve, your base width, your rib shape/projection, etc. Without seeing you and doing yourmeasurements or having photos to assess your starting point, it isdifficult to assess accurately your final breast size or shape. The other thing to consider is that most women are not accurately sized for their bras. Different bra companies are sized differently and employees at various clothing stores will not use the same criteria to measure one's bra size. The most important thing to consideris really the size and look that is appealing to YOU with the implantsyou choose. Many surgeons have sizing models whether using bras withimplants or computer simulation. I encourage you to discuss with yoursurgeon many of these considerations when deciding whichimplant and size to use during your surgery. Additionally, a breastimplant is a round object and has a certain diameter. Your base widthon each side of your chest will determine "how big of a ball" or whatdiameter implant you can reliably go up to with a socially acceptablecosmetic outcome. The implant will "augment" or increase the size of your breasts to an amount acceptable to you and your surgeon. My patients will try on a sports bra and then we pick the implants based on their measured breast base width. I have them try on implants of different sizes up to this maximum allowed size. Once they find a size that they like, they can even put their favorite T-shirt or shirt over the anticipated bra with implants. This helps my patients choose the shape that is most appealing to them. Remember, pick the implant that makes YOU the happiest. In reality, don't stress too much as this is the fun part of the process. =) Go with what is acceptable based on your measurements and makes you happiest and make sure to weigh the pros and cons of the options you are considering. It is a good thing that you are doing your research before making a final decision. When the appropriate steps are taken similar to above with a board certified plastic surgeon, most women experience very high satisfaction rates with breast augmentation. I hope thishelps answer your question!
Dear Ms. Sunflower91,Thank you for your question.Breast size is a very personal choice. The correct answer is what you proportions you want to achieve. My responses are:1)sizing: A)purchase several bras (full bodied and no padding) of the size you think you want to be. As you realize there are no standard bra (strap/cup) sizes. B)take a measuring cup (1 oz=30cc) place rice in a nylon C) try on various volumes of rice with some form fitting clothes.2) profile of implant: A) for the same volume the higher the profile the narrower the base width. B)there is very little difference in projection between a moderate to high profile implant thus little affect on how the actual nipple will look. C) the base width of the breast should equal the base width of the implant D)thus I personally chose the profile based on the patients chest measurements, (a high profile on a wide chest may not result in the cleavage desired and conversely a low profile on a narrow chest may result in implant in the outside arm area)3)if implant is placed under the pectoralis muscle I usually add 10% volume to what the patient chooses.... To compensate for the muscle pressing down on the muscle and for the naturally settleing of the implant which often makes the breast appear smaller 2-3 months after surgery.I suggest you make out a list of your questions and select several nude "model" photos of what your desired goals/look would be and then schedule several different consultative appointments with experienced Plastic Surgeons who are Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who are ideally members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (denoting by membership as having met additional criteria and a focus on Cosmetic Plastic Surgery). My best wishes, R. Hello Malwa and thank you for your question. Different surgeons have different post-op regimens, so you will ultimately have to follow the plan as outlined by the plastic surgeon who you decide to go with. I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon for the best results and...
Dear Pharmer 19,You will probably be able to swim by 4 weeks after your breast augmentation. Be sure to discuss the question with your plastic surgeon first. We all have our own protocols for return to activities. Good luck!
This is a great question. It is important to understand that breast is composed of fat tissue and breast parenchyma (tissue). The fat tissue component volume fluctuates like the rest of your body fat, increase when you gain weight and decrease when you lose weight. Also the breast...
