Thanks for your question, and I always recommend that you make a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn all the details and some of the new medicines which are showcased at meetings like you are suggesting. There are now 2 HA fillers which have a mid-face volumizing indication: Juvederm Voluma and formerly Perlane, now known as Restylane Lyft. Both of these fillers are good at volumizing, and much of what we know is to know the skill level of the injector — and to determine how much product is used, as in the clinical trials for both, large amounts of medicine were used, which is just a little harder here in the States.Besides these two, some might also suggest Radiesse — which, in the right patient, does really well.Find the right injector, and get the problem taken care of.
The most important aspect to injectable fillers for mid face is to ensure that you are seeing a skilled board-certified physician who has extensive experience when it comes to fillers. Afterall, the skill of your physician is much more important than the actual filler injected and in the right hands you can accomplish great results, with a number of different brands of fillers. I suggest that you seek a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist who can guide you on the right filler choice that will depend on your specific facial features and budget. When it comes to injectable fillers, there are a number of choices including Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm Voluma and Emervel Volume (available in Canada and Europe) being more long-lasting, and Perlane being one of the original fillers that still has an excellent track record, as well as Radiesse and Sculptra. In our practice we tend to use more hyaluronic acid fillers especially since they are now long-lasting, but can still be dissolved which allows tremendous flexibility.
