I traveled to Florida to have a BBL & at my pre-op, the doctor Said “he insisted that I add a Tummy Tuck surgery, or he would not do my surgery at all! Every reason listed for needing one did not apply to me, as I`ve never had children, no hanging fat or skin and was a size 4. He made another incision from the center of the scar up, Anyone know reason for that? What he did was wrong on so many levels! Anything I can do,or report to?
Answer: Tumy tuck Without seeing your preop photos it's difficult to say why a tummy tuck was recommended for you, but from your description it isn't what you wanted. The vertical incision represents the tissue that was around your belly button before the surgery. This small incision is sometimes necessary when there isn't enough excess skin.

Answer: Scar That vertical incision was the area in your skin where your belly button used to be. In women who do not have much skin, it is common to have a small vertical scar. I do let my ladies know about it ahead of time. You agreed to and signed to give your surgeon permission to do the tummy tuck. You could have gone to see another surgeon if you did not want the tuck. This surgery is elective surgery. You could have told your surgeon, "No tummy tuck."

Answer: What Could Be the Reason for My Incision Placement? Thank you for your question regarding the incision placement after your surgery. From examining your photo, the small vertical incision you mentioned is likely where your previous belly button was, especially if you had a tummy tuck during your procedure. When the belly button is repositioned during a tummy tuck, a small vertical scar may be left in the place of the original belly button. Without seeing your before photos, it’s difficult to assess the extent of your improvement. However, the tummy tuck and any vertical incisions should have been thoroughly discussed with you prior to surgery, especially if you were unsure whether you needed the procedure in the first place. It’s crucial that your surgeon explains the reasons for each step and incision involved. I recommend reaching out to your plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and questions regarding the necessity of the tummy tuck and the incision placement. Communication is key in understanding whether this was part of the planned procedure and to address any potential issues. If you feel that your concerns weren’t adequately addressed or that you weren’t properly informed, you can always seek a second opinion from another board-certified plastic surgeon to evaluate your results. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Tummy tuck I am sorry to hear that you were "talked" into a tummy tuck that apparently you neither needed nor wanted. If you are referring to a short vertical scar that comes up from your main TT scar in the middle of the scar, this is most likely your prior belly button opening in the skin. It happens when there just isn't enough skin, and the belly button opening doesn't reach and can't be removed. The good news is that often times if it heals with an invisible scar and as the skin stretches some, this vertical scar can be removed. Be sure to see a Board-Certified PS if you chose revision in your area.

Answer: Issues with surgery done, and possible options Based on only one post of photos that appears you were not a great candidate for a tummy tuck, or you didn’t fully understand what the surgeon was trying to do. You have the standard tummy tuck incision with a slight midline vertical incision which occurs if there’s not enough tissue to remove in the full tummy tuck. Since you signed operative consents, which included the tummy tuck it’s hard for you to pursue any course, there was no reason to proceed with the tummy tuck if you were not comfortable with that you have the option of always canceling the surgery and getting other opinions, but usually it sounds like you went to a clinic where the refund of your deposit and other funds would’ve been difficult. to get the surgeons and look up the state the surge is done and report to the board of medicine . Otherwise do a virtual consult and I can give you better explanations.
