Here's some stats: 21, male, 210 pounds. What I do daily: exercise 30-60 min. a day, eat 3 meals ( sometimes 4), sleep in irregular cycles. Like my questions above, I just need to know what I can do to resolve my hair loss issue. Am I at the point of no return-I sure feel like it. As you can see, I have a lot of diffusion going on in the front; it looks horrible. I'd like the safest option available. Also, to recover most if not all of the lost hair.
Answer: How advanced is my hair loss During a consultation, an experienced hair surgeon can identify your Norwood stage and evaluate the cause of your hair loss. Because of your age, you may not be a candidate for hair transplant surgery just yet. We often don't recommend it until late 20's because hair loss is a progressive condition that worsens as you age. Therefore, if you get a hair transplant at a very young age, you will likely need more surgeries down the road in order to maintain the coverage you desire. This can get quite costly over time. If you have just begun noticing hair loss, then you are a prime candidate for medically managing your hair loss with such treatments as Minoxidil, Finasteride, PRP therapy, or laser therapy. We have seen great success with PRP therapy in younger patients who have relatively new hair loss. To determine which course of treatment is best for you, you should meet with an experience hair restoration surgeon who specializes in the medical management of hair loss (not just hair transplant surgery).

Answer: Understanding Hair loss and hair loss treatment options: hair transplant, prp and progesterone This needs an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and test results and provide you information about your best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Early hair loss You need to be evaluated by a good hair specialist. A microscopic evaluation helps predicting where you are heading in addition to your family history of baldness.

Answer: Hair loss help I'd recommend switching to organic products for your shampoo and conditioner, and to look in to preventative medications like Finasteride and Minoxidil which has been proven to halt and even reverse hair loss. PRP would also be an option for you. Before starting any medications it is best to check with your physician.

Answer: Hair Loss at 21 Your're approaching or at a 3V. Given your age, you're quickly moving the wrong way on the scale. Though it would help arrest the hair loss, Finasteride/Propecia won't do much for hair recovery. As well, I would not want to risk the possible side effects at your age. You're way too young to be considering a transplant. The culprits are likely genetics and hormones. Hormones can be dealt with by an Integrative Medical physician who also does Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. I encourage you to try and recover what hair you have lost and at the same time rejuvenate the hair follicles that are still producing. This can likely be accomplished through PRP Hair Regeneration. RealSelf has a section on this treatment I encourage your to research. I and many physicians have provided much in the way of helpful advice for this treatment. Don't wait too long, there's only so far back in time that PRP hair regeneration can go back to regenerate the hair you've lost. I wish and hope the best for you in your search for a solution. Warmly, Arbella Sarkis, MD
