There are several treatment options for increasing the definition of the mandible and jawline. Custom chin and jaw angle implants will provide the best outcome for improved definition. Soft tissue improvement can be achieved with jawline and submental liposuction. Since your horizontal projection is good, I would not recommend a genioplasty.
For a more defined jawline to strengthen your profile (and help prevent the dreaded jawline "jowl" sagging), we use injectable fillers like Revanesse Versa - a filler known to limit swelling and give subtle, soft enhancements - or Radiesse. Using a cannula to limit pain and swelling, we inject on the bone in strategic points to get more lift and shaping, resulting in a more contoured lower face and defined, structured jawline. I would suggest getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Dear largerefridgerator,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin augmentation. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
I would do sliding genioplasty advancement along with Facetite and Morpheus8 to tighten the skin to give you more definition
The term 'mandible' implies the entire jawline. Any form of chin augmentation (implant vs sliding genioplasty...with neck liposuction) will improve the front end of the mandible (the chin) but not its entire length. (behind the chin back to the jaw angles) Thus it takes more than just a chin augmentation to create a defined mandible. (jawline)
You’re an excellent candidate for augmenting the chin. This can be done with a sliding genioplasty, implants or fillers. Each of the procedures has advantages and disadvantages. It seems to me plastic surgeons are more apt to recommend implants while oral surgeons seem to prefer sliding genioplasty but technically doctors from either specialty should be able to do both procedures.I suggest consulting with both oral surgeons and plastic surgeons in your community to get an accurate assessment and better understanding of each procedure.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
It sounds like you are a good candidate for a genioplasty. This is a permanent procedure that allows us to pretty much put your chin in whatever position you like. You will most likely have chin ptosis after an implant removal, but a genioplasty would resolve that. It is a fairly common practice...
You look like you are an excellent candidate for chin augmentation. This in combination with Liposuction can get great results. Treatment options include sliding genioplasty, implant augmentation or the use of fillers. Consider talking to oral surgeons who seem to be more prone to recommend the...
It's difficult to say without the benefit of a formal evaluation. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
