I'm about 14, and I have a droopy nose and my parents have decided to support in my wish for rhinoplasty. I'v been the same shoe size and height for 2 years, and I've been on my period for 2 years as well, so I believe I'm mature enough. When I push the bottom of my nose up, you already have what I want my nose to look like. I believe I have a bulbous nose, that needs tip revision. Am I too young?
Answer: I'm 14 yrs old and have droopy nose. Am I too young for a nose job It is generally accepted that the nose reaches adult size in most patients at 15 in females and 16-17 in males. A rhinoplasty can be performed after that time.Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, evaluating your level of maturity, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure with you and your parents would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California

Answer: Young rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty can be performed safely on a person when they are physically mature. For females this is usually between 14 to 16 years of age. Also in younger patients a good support system is necessary to help in the post operative care.

Answer: What is the Youngest Age That Rhinoplasty Can Safefly Be Performed? Hi Adriana,Fourteen years old is the youngest age that I have performed rhinoplasty. As in your case, bone growth should have stopped and the patient should have passed through puberty. The most important aspect of your future rhinoplasty is making sure that your parents and you take the time to choose your rhinoplasty surgeon most carefully based their artistic vision, skill, and experience. Good luck and be well. Dr. P
