I'm 14 yrs old and have droopy nose. Am I too young for a nose job?

Hi Adriana,Fourteen years old is the youngest age that I have performed rhinoplasty.  As in your case, bone growth should have stopped and the patient should have passed through puberty. Rhinoplasty for droopy bulbous tip in 14 year old female is fine. I have done this for 35 years without problem. 

it sounds like you are physically mature. And possibly emotionally mature as well. Though 14 is a tad bit young. I think it is fine to start getting some consultations and to start going through the early process. It is important that your facial growth is complete, or nearly so, before surgery. Good luck.

It is generally accepted that the nose reaches adult size in most patients at 15 in females and 16-17 in males. A rhinoplasty can be performed after that time.Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history,evaluating your level of maturity, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure with you and your parents would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. Rhinoplasty can be performed safely on a person when they are physically mature. For females this is usually between 14 to 16 years of age. Also in younger patients a good support system is necessary to help in the post operative care.

For girls this generally means 2 years after they have started their period. But we want to get a sense of are you still growing, face structure, etcThe second perhaps as important issue is emotional and mental maturity. You want to make sure you are ready for a surgery that can make you look more the way you have always wanted to look. Their is sometimes some outside pressure from friends and classmates around this. But also you really need to have a good sense of what you want to look like. DO you want a slightly softer, more feminine look or are you more into a refined, elegant look These are subtle changes but can be meaningful. Yes, you can have your nose made smaller to fit your face better. Many of my patients want to do this during the summer months and before they enter high school so it is not so noticeable. It is done as an outpatient and the recovery is about two weeks.

For over 35 years I've done rhinoplasty surgery with consistent successful results on young ladies who are 14 or older. It is very rare that a girl your age is not physically mature enough for this procedure.
