Is it normal for incision stitches to hurt when I touch it?

I had rhinoplasty four days ago and I am using the anti bactereal cream on my incision stitches and around my nostrils. When I try to clean my nose with q-tips I slightly touch my incision and it hurts badly. Is this normal? Are my stitches broken?

Hello. Swelling after nose surgery is very common and in some cases can last up to 2 years. If you are just a few months from your procedure, what you are seeing might just be swelling and could get better. It is always best to ask the surgeon who performed your procedure as he/she knows exactly...

Is whistling from nose normal 3 months post op septoplasty? (Photo)

At 3 months, the healing process is still early (I know it probably doesn't feel that way), and swelling of the delicate lining inside the nose is common.  Have patience.  Based on the photos, it still appears swollen.  This is likely the cause for the whistling noise you notice....

Post operatively my patients cleanse the inner nose with 1/2 strength hydrogen peroxide on a q tip, no nose blowing and are prescribed an antibiotic and steroid dose pack. Flonase, a steroid inhaler is safe to use because of its low steroid concentration.

10.5 month post op, the tip is swollen. I did not use a cast & I'm a regular smoker & drinker. Does this prolonged my healing?

Yes, smoking and drinking can significantly impair healing and may contribute to prolonged swelling and stiffness, even 10.5 months post-op. Nicotine constricts blood vessels and reduces oxygen flow, which slows tissue recovery, while alcohol can cause fluid retention and inflammation. Morning...
