do breasts typically get smaller after the swelling goes down after a reduction? Some girls say that theirs have gotten a little bigger after the swelling. However, is it more common for the breasts to become smaller rather than larger once they have settled? Also, how much do the breasts "settle" or "drop" after surgery? I'm worried about them being a lot less perky once they heal. Thanks!

Congratulations on having undergone the breast reduction procedure. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to specific thoughts and predictions. Generally speaking, breasts do swell after any type of surgery;  I ask patients to evaluate the outcome of breast reduction surgery about six months after it was performed. The breasts tend to take better shape as swelling resolves. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with long-term.

There is definitely a settling of breast tissues following breast reduction. This results in bottoming out of the breasts as well as decrease in breast size. Your breasts will be stable in shape after six months.
