How risky is a 3rd BBL? (Photo)

Question

I had 2 bbls in June and December of 2016. I had a baby 10 months ago and a lot of fat has returned to my stomach. I would like to do one last bbl to improve my waist to hip ratio. I know there is an increased risk of deformity with subsequent liposuction in the same area. I’m wondering if the fact that I have the extra fat from the baby will help reduce this risk. Are you able to tell based on my pictures if it seems like I would have a bad outcome from round 3?

You are indeed correct that you are at significantly increased risk for contour skin surface irregularities (dimpling, rippling) from round 3 liposuction. Your photos already show signs of this in your abdomen and lower back areas.  Although some very strategic and conservative liposuction may still be possible, the amount of fat harvested will likely be insufficient to produce any significant augmentation to your buttock and/or hips. On the other hand, buttock and/or hip implants can much more reliably and safely provide a permanent result to these areas.

Hello, thank you for your question. Having the BBL done is an option as long as you have enough fat to be transferred. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for a proper evaluation.

Dear MamaJay,
based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

A BBL is in fact two combined procedures.And regards to Liposuction repeat Liposuction creates less and less potential change with increased risk for contour or regularities and unnatural outcomes.Fat transfer on the other hand does well with multiple rounds with fat less limitation. If your goal is to maximize liposuction results that I’ve been treated twice before then this may not deliver much good for you.If the purpose is to add volume and fat can be harvested from areas that have not yet been treated then there may be room for improvement.Generally speaking patient satisfaction from a third BBL is generally not going to be great.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
