Does septoplasty change a droopy nose on the outside?

Septoplasty is very unlikely to change a droopy nose.  However in some cases if the caudal end or the tip of the septum has been corrected it can reduce the movement that happened while speaking.RegardsDr. J

In general, septoplasty helps with improving your airway and thus your breathing.  It doesn't generally change the appearance of your nose, or cause it to droop more or any less.

 A septoplasty is performed in the back of the nose when there is a deviation of the nasal septum present, and is only performed or medical necessity to improve air flow. A septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose. A rhinoplasty can accomplish making changes in the nose such as lifting a droopy tip, shaving down the dorsal hump, and refining bridge line. Expect to pay for the cosmetic component yourself, while the medically related functional surgery can be billed to the medical insurance  once medical necessity has been determined. Usually a septoplasty is unlikely to change a droopy nose unless it involves the very front end of the septum. Usually treatment of the droopy nose involves a rhinoplasty approach.
