Passing out after Brazilian Butt Lift?

Question

Why do so many women report fainting/passing out following their BBL surgery? I am a nurse and have never observed this in any post surgical patient, and I would be alarmed if I did. However, after reading reviews on rea self, it seems to happen more often than not. What is the medical reason for this? Is there anything I can do to prepare myself preop restively for this potentially dangerous post op complication?

The most common reason is valsalva which is an autonomic response to stress, pain or volume depletion.   There is some blood loss from liposuction but there is a lot of fluid shifts to the extra cellular space makes it very important to keep hydrated before and after surgery.   If you get up from recumbent to walking position too fast, the volume shifts to your lower extremities and away from you head so you faint.  So, it is important to get in a sitting up position for a minute or two before you start walking to help your body get ready.  Hope that helps.

I am not aware of any increased rates of syncope or passing out after a Brazilian butt lift in comparison to other procedures of the same level of intensity.The procedure is generally considered a low blood loss operation.When done using General Anastasia there can be side effects of the anesthetic that can cause various symptoms.Liposuction also causes some fluid shifts that can potentially lead patients to becoming dehydrated.Other than these there should be no difference in the rate of passing out from a BBL to other comparable procedures.
