Found something sticking out of my septum after septorhinoplasty. Any suggestions? (photos)

I had a Septorhinoplasty 12 days ago, I got the stitches and internal splints out and the cast off 7 days post op. I was cleaning out crusty blood from my nose again today and found a staple like thing sticking out of septum. It is very painful when I touch it. I was wondering what it is and if it will have to stay there? I have attached a photo of it. I have rung my surgeon and left him a voicemail as he is not in his office. Thank you for any help or insight you can offer.
