Does saline sprays dries out your nose?

Thank you for your question.  Saline nasal spray is formulated to have the correct concentration of salt so that it will neither cause the inside of your nose to become more dry nor swell.  Tap water (too low concentration of salt) will cause the nose to swell inside.  Salt water (too high concentration) will cause the inside of the nose to become dry by pulling water from the lining of the nose.  Hopefully you don't have persistent dryness and this will improve in time.  All the best!

Nasal Dryness and scabbing is not uncommon after septorhinoplasty, especially if turbinates are also reduced.  Saline sprays work well, 5 times a day is ok.  Consider a humidifier at night if the dryness is worse in the morning.  The good news is that it should improve with more time.All the Best,Dr. Brian Reagan
