Nerve pain - has my implant migrated?

Question

I had my saline implants aspirated about 5 years ago, (I just didn’t like the look),The saline implant casing/shell was left in. The implant was inserted axillary and tunneled to the breast and placed below the muscle. Fast forward five years , I am having nerve pain under my arm , upper chest runs down to my wrist and lightly touching the skin on the inside of my arm is oddly a little painful, oh and it is really painful on the scapula as well, my thought: implant migrated/nerve compression?

Based on the description of your pain and history with the saline implants, there are a few possibilities to consider, including nerve compression, implant migration, and other complications related to the implant shell that was left behind. Your symptoms suggest that nerve compression or irritation, possibly due to the migration of the implant shell or scarring from the previous surgery, is a plausible cause. The scapular pain and sensitivity down the arm also point to possible involvement of the nerves that pass through the chest and under the arm. Consulting with a specialist and possibly obtaining imaging will be key in determining whether the implant shell needs to be removed or whether another intervention is needed to address the nerve pain.

You will need to schedule an exam with your plastic surgeon.  An ultrasound can determine if the implant shell is still in the breast space.  It may be that the pain you are experiencing is from something unrelated to your implants and a specialist may be recommended.

You could get an ultrasound to see where your implant is and if it is pushing somewhat on your axilla. Otherwise, you need to have your neck examined and X-rayed for you may have a disc problem.

It requires proper medical history and an actual physical examination with particular attention to the cervical spine, the axillae and breasts and neuromuscular examination of the upper extremities. Only then can a reasonable diagnosis be made. All else is useless/possibly harmful speculation.
