How do I get started with a medically necessary breast reduction through Aetna?

Read your Aetna certificate of coverage. Determine if Aetna requires you to use a board certified plastic surgeon (BCPS) who is in their network for full coverage. Look at the BCPS's web site gallery of before and after photos and the number of surgeries performed each year.  During a consult with the BCPS,  medical data to support the necessity for the breast reduction will be collected for requesting a preauthorization or precertification  of coverage.

First step is to contact Aetna and ask them for plastic surgeons in their network in your area. Research which surgeons are on their network and review their before and after photos to make sure they produce results you like and make a consultation. That would be a good place to start. It depends uno the exact Aetna Health plan you signed up for. If there are restrictions to breast reduction surgery? If there is a waiting period after initial sign in. If you need to use ONLY in plan PS providers. Best to call the Aenta company and ask for guidance and names of provider PSs.
