I noticed that my right breast dropped lower than my left breast, could it be a ruptured implant? Should I get an MRI? (photos)

I would definitely make an appointment with a board-eligible or board-certified plastic surgeon who has the capability of performing an adequate physical exam and potentially in-office ultrasound. There are many different reasons that you could have this asymmetric but the most likely causes based on your preoperative and postoperative photos would be 1) inadequate pocket dissection2) inadequate planning of new incision and pocket dissection3) placement of significantly different implants 4) left capsular contractureAgain, these are possible options but the true solution can only be reached by seeing a board-eligible or board-certified plastic surgeon.

Hello, thank you for your question. It can be a number of causes, the most likely one is that your left implant healed that way and didn't drop and may need to be further released. The other possibility is that you have a capsular contracture on the left side holding up the implant. Its difficult to say based on photos. A consultation and physical exam with your plastic surgeon would be recommended.

Your right breast appears to be normal, but you left breast is somewhat high and may yet need to drop, or may be developing a capsule. Some implants take the full size months to completely drop. Don't waste money on a MRI, but go back to your surgeon.

It is unclear from your photos what is causing the asymmetry. This determination can be made only after careful examination in person. If you had transumbilical, (TUBA) placement of the implants, it is quite likely that your right implant is subpectoral, (under the pectoralis major muscle) and the left is subglandular (on top of the pectoralis major muscle), or with workouts you were able to push the left implant out form under the pectoralis muscle. You are so lean and if you continue to perform chest workouts, you would probably get the best result with cohesive gel implants that are both on top of the pectoralis major muscle, (subglandular). If you have lost confidence in your plastic surgeon, please seek out a second opinion from a surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and preferably a member of the ASAPS, (American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons).

It appears that your left breast implant is still being held high while the right has dropped into place. I encourage you to meet with your surgeon for an evaluation and to determine the next course of action. She/He will determine if an MRI or any other test is indicated.

Thanks for posting photos but you did not post a before surgery photo? Appear the left breast is riding higher than the right breast. Might be the surgery/surgeon not opening inferior breast pocket, a capsular contracture on the left side, or both. Best to return to see your chosen operative surgeon ASAP or seek new consult from private practice boarded PS. MRI can be ordered, I doubt you have a rupture. Most likely you need revision surgery on the left to release inferior pole with capsulotomy. Usual fee $5,000 range.

Your right breast appears to have fallen nicely into place. Your left breast implant appears to be higher and firmer (by photos and your history). The best remedy for your concerns is a visit back to your original plastic surgeon for an examination and consultation. He (or she) would have your original images and examination information and would be able to intelligently discuss treatment options.
