The requirements vary between establishments and Doctors. In our clinic, our requirements for EKG are related to prior heart disease or aids. Blood work is usually required and we require an MRSA result and full blood count. 

MCV is really only looked at to help physicians determine the type of anemia their patient may have. Thus, if you are not anemic (hemoglobin and hematocrit are normal), your MCV is fairly irrelevant and should have no bearing on your ability to have surgery. Hope this helps! Sam Jejurikar, MD
