Following surgery begin with a light diet: liquids only. The next day you can begin a soft, regular diet but for 2 weeks avoid foods that require excessive lip movement such as apples, cornon the cob, etc. Talk to your surgeon about what is and is not acceptable to eatand when you can return to your normal healthy diet.
daily multivitaminsavoid spicy foods (makes the skin red)healthy balanced nutrition (proteins, fat, carbohydrate)adequate hydration.
In general, it is best to avoid foods that are spicy, difficult to chew, and hot in temperature for the first week. In addition, it is best to avoid salty foods during the initial recovery period. I would recommend speaking with your prospective surgeon regarding his or her specific guidelines. I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best of luck.
As you don't really know what technique your surgeon used for your rhinoplasty, it always good to ask him as it may very subjective. Generally speaking, avoid any solid food the first day. From next day avoid hot drinks or food and food that stress too much your lips/mouth. If you were in Italy I would say no Bruschetta, if you were in Uk I would say no fried chicken or bacon ;) Good luck.
The first day after the procedure, most patients are not hungry because of the anesthesia, so simple clear liquids are probably best. After that, most patients are able to eat a normal diet. Important to eat a low-sodium diet for the first few weeks to make sure the keep the swelling down in tip of the nose. Always best to check with your operative surgeon.
Hi there,After general anesthesia your gut slows down, so the concern is that if you eat too much quickly your stomach and gut won't be able to process it. In the recovery room, you will take juice or clear liquids before transitioning. It is best to take it easy with food the day of surgery and slowly advance to your regular diet as your stomach tolerates it.After one to two days, you should be ready to eat normally.good luck!
Good question! Honestly, it doesn't matter all that much. Eat your normal diet. Salty foods can increase your swelling for a short time (like over a day following the meal), but there are no hard and fast rules.
As a general recommendation since we are NOT your surgeons eat sold non spicy foods for 10 days........
There are no strict rules but for my patients I ask them to refrain from salty foods for several weeks. Salty foods cause increase fluid retention and edema and will cause the nose to swell more. A regular diet of low carbohydrates and high protein along with Vitamin C (2 grams per day) will help with your healing.
As long as you eat a balanced diet you should do well. Ask your surgeon for any recommendations he may have.
