My pre op appt is in 2 days and I’m still debating on what size I should go for. My natural breasts are very small so I still want to stay on small side. I was thinking to do between 250-300cc but my doctor recommends to go for a bigger size. He recommends somewhere between 350-360 but I’m afraid they will look overdone. I weigh 120 lbs, 5.6 ft tall. Any advice?

Answer: Implant selection Implant selection is a complex process that includes decisions on not only volume of the implant, but shape, projection, type and placement. When recommending an implant your surgeon will examine and measure your breasts. This information will be combined with your goals for surgery to help arrive at potential implants. I encourage you to return to your surgeon's office to look at the implants again. Many will have sample implants you can "try on" to get an idea of how you may look after surgery.

Answer: Size Selection Good morning, Did your doctor give you a reason for wanting to go so much larger than you feel comfortable with? It is hard to say the proper size without measuring your chest, but it's your body and your choice. I would be concerned with going with a surgeon with such a different opinion as your own. If there are problems postop they are likely to say "I told you so- you made the wrong choice" and blame you for any issues so perhaps you should keep interviewing surgeons until you meet the one who makes you feel most comfortable and confident moving forward?

Answer: Get what volume you want Most of my 5' 6" patients choose 350 to 400cc implants but I think they are looking for more volume than you might be. Usually they want to be a "full C". In my office we lessen the guesswork by having patients try on implant sizers which can give you a close approximation to what you will look like post op. I suggest you do this to help pick out your final size. Good luck.
