I had a face lift 12 years ago(!) primarily to deal with my (thanks, mom) turkey neck.. I developed a parotid tumor under my right ear on a lymph node. I wound up with some facial paralysis. Now, of course, my neck is showing drop and aging skin. Would scar tissue be an issue? This has been a nightmare for me....I would like to feel as youthful as possible.
Answer: Would scar tissue be an issue for me? Sorry to hear about your parotid tumor. However, it has been 12 years since your last facelift, and judging from your photos, you are an excellent candidate for a secondary facelift. The fat in your neck can be remove with excision or liposuction at the same time, Your platysma bands can be addressed at that time as well. As a matter of interest, secondary facelifts are more durable than the first ones. This should give you a tight neck as well as a more youthful, tighter face.Thank you for your question and good luck.

Answer: Concept Facelift after previous surgery Thank you for your question and pictures. You would be an amazing candidate for neck liposuction to remove any fat under the chin area, this could be combined with a local anaesthetist facelift and necklift which will remove any excess skin. This would help achieve a contoured L shaped neck and remove any jowls, giving a nice sharp jawline. In terms of scar tissue, it wouldn't cause a problem or affect the overall results. It would just cause the surgery to last slightly longer. Most of my patients want a facelift however do not want the downtime associated. The Concept Facelift is the procedure I perform, which combines the latest surgical techniques with the use of local anaesthetic to dramatically reduce the risks associated with traditional facelifts, while significantly reducing the bruising and downtime of your recovery, from months to a matter of days. If you have lax facial skin, lost volume and feel that you have jowls and wrinkles on your cheeks and you look tired when you're not then the concept facelift can help improve your appearance. With concept facelift you will look natural and fresh just like the way you feel inside. There are no bandages, drains and hospital stay but with lasting results of traditional facelift techniques it fits with today's age. What are the benefits of a local anaesthetic facelift? Minimally invasive as it is a short scar facelift, although has the same effects as the Traditional Facelift as the SMAS muscle is tightened along with the skin. There is minimal bruising and swelling, especially when compared to traditional faceliftsAs the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, you can go straight home following the procedureFull recovery in a matter of days rather than monthsSignificantly less risk than Facelifts performed under general anaestheticFresh, youthful and long lasting resultsPlease make sure you find a reputable and qualified plastic surgeon who can assess you properly to give you a realistic idea of what outcome you can achieve. Answer: Would scar tissue be an issue for me? Thank you for your question. Yes, it appears she would be an excellent candidate for a facelift. I'm sorry you had some facial nerve paralysis after your parotidectomy. You can certainly have a revision facelift, however it is very important that you find an experienced surgeon in facelifting. Be sure to tell him/her about your previous parotid surgery and the facial nerve paralysis you had afterwards. There we'll be scar tissue, and the facial nerve on the right side will be in a more exposed to position now than it was before your parotid surgery.Again, be sure to consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who has experience with face lifts. Here you will have a full evaluation and be able to discuss her goals for surgery.I hope that this helps!–David Gilpin
