Mons pubis itching 7 months after abdominoplasty (Photo)

Question

I have noticeable slight swelling in incision & mons pubis area. I have intense itchy outbreaks that require anti itch medication. I don't know if this is normal healing or not. My surgeon recently assured me that this should resolve in 12-18 months. He insists that compression garments will help which I've worn consistently since ny procedues. Also, do I have "dog ears?" Thank you for your answers

Thank you for your question and photograph. It appears that your incisions are healing well, and itching can accompany scar maturation after any surgery.  This itching, in addition to the slight swelling, should resolve over the next several months, as scars will mature for over a year after surgery.  Hang in there and continue to treat your symptoms as they develop.

Thanks for your inquiry and picture.  The itching you are experiencing is not uncommon.  Ask your surgeon if steroid injections in the scar could help.  Good Luck.

Hello, itchiness after surgery can be due to immature or hypertrophic scars, regenerating nerves, or issues unrelated to the surgery.  I would recommend ongoing followup with your plastic surgeon.

Itching at 7 months after tummy tuck has no relationship to tummy tuck  You should be seeing a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment of it.
