How can I choose the correct size of medpor chin implant? (Photo)

In our practice, we do not use Medpor implants. We have seen significant infections from them, and it is very difficult to treat and remove these implants. The size and shape of a chin implant is determined at time of examination and consultation. Most of our patients require a size small or medium-sized Silastic anatomical chin implant placed through a submental incision. Chin implants are placed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Silastic implants are very easy to  custom carve, insert and remove when necessary. A 10 mm medpor implant is quite large.  A chin implant this size will make the chin wider as well as more projected.  I usually recommend an advancement genioplasty when a patient wants that much projection.  The advancement genioplasty will also give you the best neck form.  Good luck.  Donald R.  Hi, I have placed many chin implants over the years but do not use or recommend medpore implants as they become integrated into the bone and are very difficult to remove should you ever choose to do so.  We use silastic chin implants of which you would get a size medium.  Hope this helps.
