Moderate plus vs high profile (photos)

The likelihood of being able to visually distinguish between the two types of implants you mentioned is very small. The most appropriate implant for you needs to be determined by your plastic surgeon after examining you and getting a detailed understanding from you (including photographs) of your desired end point. No plastic surgeon, and certainly no lay person, can look at a woman's breasts and tell you what size, type, or profile of implant she has in her breasts. In my own practice, the ultimate goal is to not have any evidence that there are implants beneath the breasts at all. Trust your plastic surgeon. If you have reservations and cannot allay them get a second, or even a third opinion until you are comfortable and confident with the treatment plan you and your surgeon have come up with. The choice between moderate plus and high profile breast implants depends on several factors:

Hello, thank you for your question. In terms of projection of the implant, a moderate plus profile gives you moderation, as the name suggests. It distributes the volume of the implant more evenly than a high-profile, thereby giving you more natural-appearing results. High profile implants offer more projection from a side view of the breasts, particularly towards the centre near the nipple. Both implants will give you cleavage and a lifted/perkier look. Ultimately, this is a good conversation to have with your surgeon who can examine you and offer you sizers to help imagine your end result.

Implant sizing is a really important part of the consultation with your plastic surgeon. After taking your measurements your surgeon or their assistant should size you. I place implants that match the ones we would place in surgery in a surgical bra the patient wears. I have to admit many of my patients choose high profile, particularly when they start as an A/B. The high profile sounds really big but isn't necessarily. Some offices size with computer generated pics. Sizing is much more than picking a volume. And you should be comfortable and understand which implant you will get before surgery. I think it's best to return to your surgeon to have this discussion and get satisfaction with understanding the outcome.

Thank you for your question. In most patients it would be very difficult to distinguish between a high profile and a moderate plus implant. The difference being a moderate plus will be slightly wider, and a high profile will be slightly narrower and slightly more projection. I would recommend seeing a plastic surgeon who can use implant sizer, and place these inside your bra to see if you can determine a difference, and what you like best.

I suggest 3D photographic imaging to see exactly what each implant would look like on you.  The differences between moderate plus and high profile implants are visible on a lateral image.

The style and shape of the silicone implant is a large part of my discussion with my patients. I mainly use high profile implants with my breast augmentation patients. They appear very natural and results are better.

Based on your breast width (which your doctor knows after obtaining your measurements), there is likely an implant that fits you better based upon the volume you have selected. The variables (implant volume, implant width and implant profile) are dependent upon each other to some extent. The implant profile refers to the implant height, or how much additional projection off of the chest wall you will have. For example, if your breast width was 12.5cm and you said you only wanted a 200mL implant, it would take a "low profile" implant to fill out your breast width appropriately. If you wanted a 600mL implant on that same breast width measurement, that would be a much higher profile implant. I would ask your surgeon to clarify why he/she selected the moderate plus profile for you; it is likely that an appropriately fitting high profile implant would have provided more volume than you wanted.
