Im a long distance runner and won't start again until im at least 6mos PO. With the amount of running id be doing, once my fat has fully vascularized and taken to my body will the fat on my hips go away? I know the new cells will shrink and grow as i do, but is there a point where new hip fat will disappear and not increase in size if i regain weight? Should I give up running all together? Is there a specific amount i should run? Should i eat in excess to compensate for the calories lost during a run? Is weight training an option?

Answer: BBL and running Once the fat takes, you are good to go. It will shrink and expand based on your caloric expenditure. The key issue is not to engage in premature exercise as this can stress the fragile cells.

Answer: Running after BBL You certainly don’t need to wait six months to start exercising. By three weeks the fat is either revascularized or dead for sure. In reality this process really happens to the first five days. To be on the safe side give it at least a month then go on and live your life. You’ll see 75% of final results by six weeks and by three months your results will be final and nothing to do it’s going to change them. You cannot change your own fat distribution whether you’ve had liposuction or a fat transfer or no surgery at all. You can gain weight and lose weight but you can’t change your fat distribution. The BBL procedure does change the fat distribution but you cannot. I would encourage you to continue exercising as soon as your surgeon says it’s safe to do so. In my practice that would be at three weeks. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
