The skin on my lower face, from nose to chin is terribly lined and my lips have become very thin. (see photo.) I'm 70. Would it be better to have veneers put on my teeth before having any cosmetic work (filler/dermabrasion, etc) on this area? I am contemplating both. I quit smoking in 2007.
Answer: Order of treatments There is no right or wrong answer as to which treatment you have first. It may be beneficial to have your veneers first so that you can build a beautiful smile around your new veneers. To treat the lines around your mouth you may benefit from CO2 lasers. In addition you can consider a thinner based dermal filler to help smooth the area as well as give a fuller look to the lips.

Answer: I want my terrible "smoker's lines" around my mouth fixed and veneers on my teeth. Which should be done first? You should speak to the distortion who will be doing your wrinkle lines and lip filler treatment. Some treatments may shorten the upper lip a small amount like fillers. If you get CO2 laser or any other skin resurfacing procedure that will not shorten your lip. So the order of veneers versus perioral lines depends on the treatment.

Answer: Smoker's Lines Thank you for your question! I would suggest getting the veneers put on your teeth first and then doing cosmetic work. For the lines around the mouth you can do some filler but that alone won't eliminate all the fine lines and wrinkles. Ideally you would want to do a laser resurfacing procedure to help soften/resurface those lines. CO2 laser resurfacing tends to have 1-2 weeks of downtime associated with that procedure. You could definitely do botox in the mean time before getting veneers as it will help PREVENT any of the lines from getting worse. Hope this helps!

Answer: Improving smoker's lines around the mouth I'd probably do the teeth work first. Then, a fine filler +/- laser resurfacing and/or microneedling (with PRP or RF) would also be very helpful. See your local dermatologist for optimal results & safety.
