I did not have a lot of fat to begin with, but wanted to have what I had, contoured and taken out. Since hour after surgery, I have had this large elogated lump. It is neither firm nor soft. It is definitely not a hematoma. It feels like swelling consistency. I am concerned that is seems to have not gone down any and it has been almost a month. The area directly under the chin is still numb. I have tried massaging it. What could this be? Is it still swelling?
Answer: Chin Liposuction Thank you for your question. Mild irregularities soon after liposuction is not uncommon and respond very well to massage. However if it doesnt get better with time then you might need to find out the etiology. It can be fat, scar, fluid collection etc... Treatment is then according to the cause. Make sure you follow up with your surgeon I hope this helps. I recommend that you consult in person with an expert board certified plastic surgeon. Answer: Lumps or irregularities after liposuction might need a revision if they don't get better It seems that you're unhappy with your recovery. To answer your one question, usually you can have some small irregularities, lumps and healing issues. Though they are not very common, they can happen. It is a known complication that can occur after a liposuction procedure however. They are more common in people who have had hematoma or seromas. I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of liposuction if you want a second opinion and of course, make sure you follow up with your own surgeon and talk about this. I hope this helps and wish you all the best in your surgery and event. If it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right.

Answer: Swelling under chin Thank you for your question and thank you for sharing a photo. You should definitely schedule a follow up with your surgeon ASAP to have an evaluation to see what is going on. I do many chin liposuctions and have never seen anything like this. Could be swelling, could be something more serious. Seek a follow up with your surgeon to see what he/she says. Best of luck!
